Aséli Impact Capital was created to respond to this gap.
Established by the Anglo American Foundation in partnership with Savant and with support from Krutham, Aséli is a South African domiciled, sustainable and impact focused permanent capital vehicle. Through patient, revenue based capital aligned to business growth, Aséli creates space for enterprises to scale, create inclusive green jobs and strengthen environmental sustainability. It is designed to demonstrate that catalytic finance can unlock the next generation of green businesses in South Africa.
By 2030, Aséli aims to invest in 40 green micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across energy, agriculture, mobility, construction and manufacturing; creating over 1,200 jobs, improving 4,000+ livelihoods, and avoiding 10,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
Beginning with a $4 million seed, Aséli is designed to scale to $25 million with additional third-party investors, proving that impact and financial sustainability aren’t a trade-off, they’re the point.
